New Teen Fiction Series Nothing Short of "Remarkable"

Multilingual author Rochelle O'Neal Thorpe introduces Captain Remarkable, a fun role model for African-American teens and preteens.

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) May 8, 2008 -- The title of the opening chapter of Rochelle O'Neal Thorpe's new book, The Adventures of Captain Remarkable, summarizes its appeal nicely: "Girls can be superheroes, too!" Thorpe's spunky main character, Misha, develops this unusual alter ego as she learns about the challenges of growing up and the rich cultural heritage she possesses, making this book appealing to both boys and girls.

Author Thorpe's close-knit family and her experiences as a mother of three inspired the themes of Captain Remarkable. In the book, Misha learns responsibility as a big sister, the challenges of relating to others at summer camp and the fun to be had at the Empire State Building during a family trip. Thorpe portrays Misha's development of values and identity in a way that will inspire young readers and encourage parents.

Presented in a comic strip format, the cover illustrations by Mayan Tamang mirror Misha's journey as she learns valuable lessons about growing up. The Adventures of Captain Remarkable is sure to be a treasured addition to any child's bookshelf.
