Parminder Jassal's Work with Greater Louisville Inc. Gets Media Attention

Parminder Jassal, the Director of Workforce Solutions for Greater Louisville Inc., is receiving notoriety for her work with GLI as well as multiple side projects.

Louisville, KY (PRWEB) May 21, 2008 -- As Director of Workforce Solutions for Greater Louisville Inc., the chamber of commerce and economic development agency for Louisville, Ky. and Southern Indiana, Parminder Jassal's job is to support companies in their strategic planning around talent acquisition and development. A recent article in Business First of Louisville explains that she is serving the greater good with multiple side projects, though, which take her all over the nation.

In addition to Jassal's work with Greater Louisville Inc., she is also a senior associate with FutureWorks, a Seattle-based consulting and policy development firm, and has been creator and director of the HIRE Education Forum, which is a consortium of regional colleges and universities in the Louisville region that advocates the alignment of business, community and post secondary institutions to help the community achieve higher levels of academic attainment and total community development. This model is now being exported to other cities. She is a contract researcher at the University of Louisville, where she received a doctoral degree in organizational leadership focusing on economic development last year. Her research focus is on first-generation college student success as predicted by the Noel-Levitz College Student Inventory. Jassal is even working with coauthor Cathy Fyock on her first book that is due out in 2009 entitled "People Power 2020," which will lay out a new age talent management model.

The recent article in Business First of Louisville explains how the 40-year-old wife and mother of two is working on getting her private pilot's license to get across the country for appointments faster and more easily. While her main duties are with Greater Louisville Inc., her various projects take her all over the country in an effort to serve the greater good. "What I want to do is make a difference in this world," she said in Business First.

This is not the first time Jassal has been featured in Business First of Louisville, either. Back in 2007, she was profiled for her position as the Director of Workforce Solutions for GLI. The profile explained her hometown of Ludhiana, Punjab, India; her higher education path - beginning at a community college leading up to a doctorate; and her unique career path spanning big company to self-entrepreneurship to start up to finally landing in her passion: economic development with a focus on higher education and workforce alignment. She was also featured in Business First's "Forty Under 40" Reception in 2004, which recognized area young professionals.
