Geneva, Switzerland (PRWEB) May 20, 2008 -- Cirrus Design Corp., a leading manufacturer of personal aircraft, announced today at the European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE), that it has partnered with Garmin International to launch an all-new cockpit architecture and avionics platform, Cirrus Perspective. Garmin's all-glass, fully-integrated flight deck was developed exclusively for Cirrus SR22-G3 and will ultimately simplify aircraft operation, enhance situational awareness and increase flight safety.

According to the aircraft manufacturer, aircraft with Cirrus Perspective will give pilots access to the same capabilities and features found in that of a $50 million Jet - for a fraction of the cost.

"As a pilot, you sit in a cockpit and experience the world in ways others can only imagine. So naturally, as leaders in technology and innovation, Cirrus and Garmin sat in the cockpit together and worked to truly redesign the pilot-airplane interface," said Cirrus CEO Alan Klapmeier. "With aspirations to reinvent the cockpit and the airplane's control systems, we created integrated technology and features not found in any other general aviation aircraft. Ultimately, with Cirrus Perspective™ pilots fly smoother, smarter and safer."

"Cirrus and Garmin have worked together since the development of the first SR20 in the late 1990s and we are very excited to expand our relationship," said Gary Kelley, Garmin's vice president of marketing. "Both companies are equally committed to bringing customers a safe and quality aircraft, and we are confident Cirrus pilots will enjoy flying with Garmin's industry leading, all-glass integrated flight deck."

Cirrus Perspective is the result of the common interest between Cirrus and Garmin to grow the general aviation industry by making flying easier, safer and more accessible.

Key new capabilities with Cirrus Perspective include:

Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT) -- A three-dimensional depiction of terrain, obstacles and traffic on the display. With SVT, the revolutionary 3D graphical presentation on the panel is now consistent with what the pilot actually sees outside the airplane in clear conditions. SVT also includes helpful features like a flight path marker, Pathways (Garmin's implementation of highway-in-the-sky), and unique runway highlighting and airport signs.

Dual, solid state Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS) system -- A feature that has the ability to self-align and restart while in flight. The dual AHRS prevents any single component failure that would force a pilot into hand flying at an otherwise critical moment.

Blue 'level' (LVL) Button -- At just a push of the LVL button, the airplane will straighten and level on its own without any additional pilot input. This single feature gives Cirrus pilots a valuable few extra moments during a high workload situation or in-flight emergency to better assess overall situational awareness…the few moments needed that can be the difference in the safe operation and outcome of the flight.

SR22-G3 aircraft equipped with Cirrus Perspective will begin deliveries in June 2008.
