Operation 'Big Fish' Suspect Arraigned

Alleged Mastermind pleads "Not Guilty" to accident set-ups

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 22, 2008 -- Alex Gutman the purported criminal mastermind behind a ring of professionals and tradesman who allegedly staged phony car collisions for millions in illicit gains from big insurance interests pleads "Not Guilty" to all charges yesterday in Division 30 of the Clara Shortridge Foltx Criminal Justice Center (Case #BA0340194).

Gutmans' lawyer, Los Angeles based criminal defense attorney Jeffery K. Rubenstein stated: "I think Operation 'Big Fish', caught a 'Little Fish' and netted the slowest moving target in a very costly and time-consuming investigation that needed to show results".

This is a very complex case and it is likely to take awhile
The case involves over sixteen State and Federal Agencies including the Los Angeles Intra-Agency Metropolitan Police Apprehension Crime Task Force, Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Bureau of Automotive Repair, Department of Health Services, California Department of Insurance, Department of Motor Vehicles and the California Highway Patrol. The criminal investigation has produced over 10,000 pages of documents and photos. Wiretaps were also used.

"This is a very complex case and it is likely to take awhile" noted Mr. Rubenstein.

Mr. Rubenstien specializes in Defense of Insurance Fraud and white collar crimes in the greater Los Angeles area.

The case is being prosecuted by specially assigned Deputy District Attorney Gregory AIker. If convicted of all counts, Gutman faces over thirty-nine years in a California State Prison.
