Jersey City, NJ (PRWEB) May 22, 2008 -- Enerkids is a new program in downtown Jersey City New Jersey aimed at re-introducing children to active lifestyles. Overseen and designed by certified counselors and educators, the program is custom-tailored to its participants. The Summer camp welcomes children ages 5-12. Children spend a good portion of the day in local parks and venues. Instructors will also come in to teach the children about health and fitness and to teach classes on music/movement and yoga. With childhood obesity reaching alarming levels, it is essential that children learn the importance of adopting and maintaining active, healthy lifestyles. Enerkids seeks to accomplish this goal by providing children with fun, recreational and energetic activities.

Enerkids will have a Summer Camp and an after-school program in the Fall. Each of the Summer Camp program's counselors have extensive experience working with children and their backgrounds range from athletic directors to early education teachers. All are CPR/First Aid certified and have undergone complete criminal background checks and drug testing. The combined experiences make for an exciting and constantly evolving program. Believing in helping others in need, Enerkids parents may choose to have a portion of their payments donated to the charity or school of their choice.

For the Summer Camp, children will meet at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in downtown Jersey City and will spend most of their time at local area parks and venues. The camp is running from June 23rd through August 29th, but parents may choose the weeks their child/ren will attend. With extended hours, the program recognizes the needs of working parents, especially those working in the nearby downtown Jersey City area. Parents have the option of dropping off their children at 8:00 am instead of the 9:00 am standard start time and picking up their children at 6:00 pm instead of the normal 5:00 pm pick up time. There is also a half day program running 4 hours each day. Space is limited and those wishing to enroll their children should do so as quickly as possible. Parents can enroll completely online and are eligible for discounts if paying in full and/or enrolling more than one child.
