Baxa IntelliFlowRx™ Upgrades Expand Pharmacy Capabilities
Baxa announces functional upgrades to its IntelliFlowRx workflow management software for health-system pharmacies.
Englewood, Colo. (PRWEB / PRWEB) September 22, 2009 -- Baxa Corporation announces the expansion of its IntelliFlowRx Workflow Manager system to include Preparation Modes, FormularyPlus™ and TPN processing capabilities. With more than 1,200 authorized users, IntelliFlowRx has prepared nearly three-quarters of a million safe patient doses. The system streamlines the previously manual workflow for pharmacy doses. Through barcode drug verification, automatic dose calculation, image capture of dose creation and improving pharmacist checking activity, IntelliFlowRx ensures patients get the right dose of the right medication at the right time.
"IntelliFlowRx users have logged nearly 1.5 million photo archives with the system to date," notes Dennis Schneider, Sr. VP of Marketing and Business Development. "During that time, the system has caught 24,832 errors, nearly 8,000 of which were medication errors." The system updates expand the safety of IntelliFlowRx beyond IV room workflow to other areas of pharmacy dose preparation and management.
The addition of Preparation Modes provides a user-defined set of standards that control how the workstation behaves during dose preparation. This means that IntelliFlowRx Workstations can filter and control the dose queue allowing pharmacies to track oral dose prep, extemporaneous compounding, tele-pharmacy and manual additions as well as IV dose prep.
The new FormularyPlus™ function is an update process maintained by FHT, Inc. at the central server that allows formulary updates to download to local servers. This upgrade to the FHT master formulary includes oral liquids, expanding the list to more than 14,000 total products that address pharmacy needs.
Finally, IntelliFlowRx now features a number of fields in the dose order record that support TPN processing - allowing orders to be received more readily from the Abacus™ Order Entry and Calculation Software.
