The strategic alliance with Advinus of Bangalore also gives the group a heavy-weight presence in the pre-clinical arena. Binoy Gardi, Managing Director of Veeda's European Operations and co-founder of the Veeda Group said that "the medium term plans for the group as a whole addressed the need for CRO's serving the pharmaceutical industry to have a global presence". He hinted that Veeda (Europe) and Veeda (Asia) would soon be joined through acquisition by Veeda (USA) giving the company a presence in all major markets. Further European expansion is already underway through the foundation of a large-molecule analytical laboratory in the Oxford Science Park, he added.

The newly acquired unit, based in the German town of Gorlitz on the German/Czech and Polish boarder is within easy reach of populations and hospital sites in the three countries. The Gorlitz unit was founded in 1992 as a 40-bed phase I facility equipped to conduct sophisticated pharmacokinetic studies in specific target normal populations and in patients. Integration with the UK-based Plymouth Unit is already underway and it is foreseen that the two units together will provide the clinical side of Veeda's European Operation with the addition of the laboratory and statistics and data-management sites in Oxford and Brussels respectively.

As a part of strategic alliance with VeedaCR , Novamed are to seek development projects from Japan, the US and Europe which in turn will be delivered through Novameds development network in India, China and South Africa. "The relationship with Veeda represents an important development in the Novamed development strategy. Leveraging the skills and arbitrage opportunities that India and China offer the international company, places the two companies in a unique position globally " Mark Lotter - CEO , Novamed Pharmaceuticals Inc

The acquisition of DICE, a highly specialized CRO with 15 years of experience in data management, biostatistics, statistical analysis and medical writing for clinical trials, enables Veeda CR to offer the biopharmaceutical market an ever greater depth of scientific expertise, delivered from sites in the UK, mainland Europe and the Indian sub continent. DICE was acquired in December last year.

"I am very excited by the opportunity of servicing the new clients that these relationships bring. It will allow Veeda to further leverage its unique offering: Our rich experience in Clinical Development and Biometrics from Europe and our cost effectiveness and patient recruitment efficiency from India" Apurva Shah - Managing Director, Veeda Clinical Research Pvt. Ltd.
