Edmonton Canada Culinary Adventures Abound with Upcoming Foodie Festivals

Downtown Dining Week, from March 7 - 16, kicks off series of annual events celebrating Alberta's unique cuisine

Edmonton, Alberta (PRWEB) February 23, 2008 -- Downtown Dining Week, from March 7 - 16, kicks off series of annual events celebrating Alberta's unique cuisine.

Edmonton Canada offers residents and visitors alike an array of opportunities to indulge in regional cuisine throughout 2008, with over 10 food-focused festivals. From restaurant sponsored culinary events to celebrations of cultural cuisine, food lovers may explore Edmonton from a whole new perspective.

Downtown Dining Week, from March 7 - 16, begins the festivities with a ten day epicurean festival, ideal for Edmonton winter vacations. The event includes special dinner menus at participating restaurants for $25 or less and offers a prime location for Edmonton travel with the event surrounded by downtown Edmonton attractions.

Sorrentino's 17th Annual Garlic Festival, from April 1- 30, features the Great Garlic Cook-Off, garlic cooking classes, Big Garlic Night, and Garlic Stomp--an entire month of garlic adventures. Edmonton Canada is also home to this Spring's La Soiree Gastronomique at the Shaw Conference Center on April 4, 2008. Presented by Culinary Team Alberta, Edmonton event goers may enjoy two five-course, five-star menus prepared by the award-winning group.

Food lovers love Edmonton travel when it comes to learning about regional cuisine, locally produced/grown ingredients or processed products that may be traced to a local farm, locality or province. In addition to the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market every Saturday, several summertime events highlight the food of Alberta. From July 18-27, A Taste of Edmonton, one of the most popular events of the year in the Festival City, offers access to culinary delights from over 40 leading restaurants.

Dine Alberta offers diners visiting the region a chance to enjoy menu items created with regional ingredients in participating Edmonton restaurants.

The 33rd Annual Edmonton Heritage Festival from August 2-4 offers an opportunity to learn more about the cultural life of Edmonton Canada and features ethnic foods from more than 50 cultures as well as arts and crafts at 60 pavilions.

For a fall vacation, Edmonton offers a number of culinary events including Harvest of the Past and A Taste of Heritage at the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village in September; the FEASTival of Fine Chefs fundraiser on September 17; November's Chili Cook-off for some of downtown's Edmonton entertainment; and Normand's Wild Game Month throughout November.
