New Doctor-led Health Care Organization Launches Campaign to Hook Doctors' Offices to the Internet

IADMD.org says doctors want Web sites to save time on form processing and patients have been asking for online bill pay and an easier way to get prescription refills.

E. Hempstead, NH (Vocus/PRWEB ) October 9, 2007 -- As the presidential candidates spread their health care plans using email and the Internet, most doctors' offices don't even have Web sites or use email to communicate with patients.

"Doctors may use PDAs but most of them don't have Web sites," says Dr. John Ryan, DMD, from the doctor-led health care organization, the International Assoc. of Dental and Medical Disciplines. "What has become the cornerstone of any good business has sort of passed by doctors."

Offering a doctor Web site is just the beginning and we want every doctor to be a part of IADMD
So IADMD has launched a massive effort to get docs wired.

Annual membership to the IADMD health care organization, which runs $1899, comes with many free perks for doctors, including a customizable flash Web site, e-commerce capability, email accounts and even a custom domain name.

An Internet search shows it would cost doctors $2,500-$8,000 a year to create a similar Web site.

What inspired IADMD to offer Web sites as a way for doctors to hop on the information superhighway?

"Web site technology gives us a way to find like-minded doctors to join our effort to revolutionize health care," says Dr. Ryan. "It also gives doctors a way to communicate with their patients and each other."

Dr. Ryan and dentists and physicians nationwide began creating IADMD nearly five years ago after getting fed up with a health care system that routinely leaves doctors out of the treatment equation because of powerful insurance interests.

IADMD is calling on all dentists, physicians, health care facilities and dental and medical schools to join them in their efforts. The doctor-led organization believes that all doctors united can resolve health care with a doctor-led health care model--one that puts unbiased dentists and physicians in charge of medicine and patient care decisions.

The health care organization says doctors and patients want a Web site. They say doctors want it to save time on form processing and patients have been asking for online bill pay and patients have been asking for online bill pay and an easier way to get prescription refills.
"Offering a doctor Web site is just the beginning and we want every doctor to be a part of IADMD," says Dr. Ryan.
