A Fashion Show Academy Students Dream About
Troy, MI (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 21, 2008 -- The fashion design students at the International Academy of Design and Technology, in Troy, are anxiously waiting to showcase their latest creations on April 26th at their annual fashion show, Dream 4. The show will take place at the Masonic Temple’s Crystal Ballroom in Detroit at 8pm, doors open at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Academy (1850 Research Drive, Troy) - $20 for reserved seating, $10 for general admission.

Dream 4 will feature more than 50 student designers and fashion designs from several faculty members. The students were required to submit sketches of their designs in January, draft original patterns, and have their garments completed by the end of March for pre-judging. Each designer in the show was allowed to create up to seven garments, but each piece had to fall into select categories including Sportswear, Formal Attire, Menswear, and more. This year the panel of judges included Susan Howes from Hour Detroit, Brian Heath from Fashion Week of Detroit, Angela Wisniewski from WDIV, and Bessie Sneed and Ken Dewey from The Fifth Avenue Club at Saks Fifth Avenue. Only six students will receive one of the coveted awards that are announced at the end of the show, including 'Rising Star' from Fashion Group International Detroit and 'Best of Show'.
"This is our fourth annual fashion show, and each year the show seems to get bigger and better,” said Elaine Ohno, Chairperson of Dream 4 and faculty member at the Academy. “It’s always amazing to see how creative and professional the students’ garments become as they progress through our program. The annual fashion show really allows them to shine."

About the Academy
The International Academy of Design & Technology was originally founded in Chicago in 1977. The Troy campus was established in 2003 to help Michigan students develop their skills and abilities needed for success in the fields of design and technology. The career-oriented degree programs provide hands-on training and real-world insights, taught by industry professionals who work in the fields in which they teach. The Academy is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award associate and bachelor degrees. The Academy currently offers degree programs in Interior Design, Graphic Design, Game Design, Fashion Design, and Digital Media.
