Second Transatlantic Telecom Cable to Help Secure Iceland as World's Data Storage Leader

Iceland's stable government, protected location, and tech-savvy population have made it the ultimate place to store sensitive information.

Reykjavík, Iceland (PRWEB) March 5, 2007 -- With the completion of a second submarine cable between itself and the UK scheduled for 2008, Iceland will add yet another reason to the long list of why it is being considered one of the best places in the world for high-security data storage.

Farice, a telecommunications company that currently maintains an undersea cable between Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and London, will add a second cable between Iceland and the UK that will ensure data-transfer reliability and increased informational service capacity in the North Atlantic. In addition, the abundant connections between the UK and North America will cement Iceland's connectivity to the world.

Iceland has brought its Nordic reliability to good use over the past few years, growing substantially in the business and technology sectors. The country has capitalized on these developments wisely, creating a sophisticated infrastructure and nurturing one of the most advanced societies in the world. Crime is all but non-existent, and they are routinely located at or near the top of all major development indices.

The country has also quietly become a world leader in green technologies. Iceland's heating and electricity is produced entirely by renewable resources, the only Western European country that can claim that distinction. This energy independence offers Iceland unprecedented levels of autonomy and freedom from international conflict, as well as providing competitively priced green energy for businesses.

The government of Iceland is committed the country's technological and social success. As a major shareholder in Farice, they have a stake in maintaining the high level of stability and security demanded by the new "data farming" industry. The new telecommunications cable will offer heightened protection by ensuring back-up data transfer options via a different route, eliminating any risk of down time.

The Invest in Iceland Agency maintains a web site at www.invest.is that describes the project and the outcomes expected as a result of the development. The site features extensive information about Iceland's unique position as a world-leader in social, economic, and at present, data services.
