Life Coach: Why Rehab Can't Help Lindsay Lohan

As well-intentioned as the people are that are trying to help Lindsay Lohan they cannot answer the question that will determine whether they can help her and that is "What determines human behavior?" Without first answering this question they are simply guessing how to help her.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) September 5, 2007 -- As actress Lindsay Lohan spends time at Cirque Lodge, reports have surfaced that she is being considered for a celebrity edition of Donald Trump's The Apprentice along with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. But first, the former child star would have to make it through rehab--and stay out of jail. She's a "[bleeping mess," Trump told the New York Post.

Reprogramming the Overweight Mind: 7 Steps to Taking Control of Your Subconscious
Master Life Coach Kelly Burris says even if Lohan does dry out at Cirque Lodge, a drug and alcohol treatment center in Utah, she's not likely to stay sober for long. "In February, Newsweek reported that only about a third of alcoholics are able to stay sober a year after rehab," says Burris. "One out of four relapses completely. And about forty percent still drink heavily on occasion."

Burris, who practices in Las Vegas, says that when rehab works, it's often purely by accident. "Most people in the helping professions are extremely well-intentioned," says Burris. "But none of them can answer one simple question: 'what determines human behavior?' What makes Lindsay Lohan -- or Britney Spears or Paris Hilton -- behave in such humiliating and self-destructive ways? If your therapist, rehab counselor, or Life Coach can't definitively tell you what drives your behavior, how can they possibly help you change it?"

Traditional rehab and 12-step programs attempt to change addictive behavior by educating the addict about her condition -- which engages only the conscious mind, says Burris. But compulsive behavior -- like drinking, or smoking, or even compulsive eating -- is driven by the subconscious mind. "Until you learn how to master your subconscious mind, you'll never master your addiction," says Burris. 'Or your life.' Think about it...if behavior change were as easy as making the right conscious decisions, would there be any overweight people in America? Would there be any smokers or drug addicts?"

"I wish Lindsay Lohan the best of luck," says Burris. "At 21 years old, she has her whole life ahead of her. But as recently as April, she told Allure magazine 'I always said I would die before I went to rehab.' And she has been in three different facilities since then. I don't think she stands a chance until she gets the right kind of help."

Burris has set the standard for Life Coaching and will certify other Life Coaches in his own clinically proven behavior change techniques at an upcoming Burris Life Coach Certification scheduled to take place September 16 and 17, 2007 in Las Vegas at THEhotel at Mandalay Bay.

Life Coaches can also get certified in Burris' clinically proven process to measure, monitor, and control the power of the subconscious during an online version of the certification, scheduled for September 8 and 9, 2007.

THE Burris Life Coach Certification qualifies for 11 Continuing Coaching Education Units through the International Coach Federation (ICF). More information is available at KellyBurris.com.

About Kelly Burris
Kelly Burris is the author of "Reprogramming the Overweight Mind: 7 Steps to Taking Control of Your Subconscious," available on Amazon.com, and "THE Burris Life Coach," available for adults and children ages 7 -17, available at his Web site.

Burris' education in behavioral change began in the mid-1980s long before the term Life Coach. Burris partnered with several physicians and psychologists to study what brought about human behavior as opposed to why certain behaviors happen. Having learned that behaviors are driven not by the conscious mind, but by the subconscious, Burris went on to create the only clinically proven process for depression, the primary symptom for almost all behavior disorders.
