Ohio Executives Find Professional and Personal Success
Businesses of all sizes thrive in Ohio.
Columbus, Ohio (PRWEB) June 27, 2007 -- Ohio’s supportive business climate provides the resources for businesses of all sizes to thrive and grow, while the state’s micro-metropolitan structure allows for short commutes giving executives the time to pursue their personal aspirations, according to the Ohio Business Development Coalition (OBDC). The OBDC is a nonprofit organization that markets the state for capital investment and supports Ohio’s economic development efforts.
One executive who fully appreciates Ohio’s unique qualities is Charley Shin, president and CEO of Charley’s Grilled Subs, a fast casual restaurant chain featuring fresh made-to-order Philly style grilled subs. Shin was a student at The Ohio State University in 1986 when he opened his first Charley’s restaurant across from campus. Mentored by a network of helpful Ohio executives and entrepreneurs, Shin soon grew his single location into a major chain, now totaling more than 300 locations nationwide.
Shin is the latest business leader featured in the “ Why Ohio? ” advertising campaign, a series highlighting prominent executives in a variety of industries who have found business and personal success in Ohio. The ad first appeared in the Wall Street Journal June 25.
Ohio’s ambitious, intelligent labor force and success in launching many restaurant chains make the state the ideal location for Charley’s Grilled Subs. Other desirable attributes for growing businesses include a central location supported by a world-class logistics infrastructure, attractive development incentives and a public/private sector leadership committed to business policy and innovation. 62 Fortune 1000 companies call Ohio home.
But it’s more than the state’s profitable business environment that keeps Shin in Ohio. Made up of a unique tapestry of cultural, recreational and educational opportunities, Ohio boasts five metropolitans, in close proximity to smaller communities that provide a choice of low-cost, low-stress environments.
Ohio is a place where balance without compromise allows business executives to achieve at a higher level and thus realize their individual aspirations – at home, at work and in the community. “Professionally and personally, Ohio has enabled me to do more with my life,” said Shin. “I have been very blessed.”
Outside of work, Shin finds plenty of time for church and family. A firm believer in giving back, Shin and his family often travel around the world doing mission work and sharing their good fortune.
