Danish Vice Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen Attends Sonion Raising the Roof-Tree and Tree Planting Ceremony at Sonion’s New Facility in Ho Chi Min City

On September 14th, 2006, Bendt Bendtsen, Danish Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Economic and Business Affairs planted a cedar tree at Sonion’s raising of the roof-tree ceremony during his official visit to Vietnam.

Roskilde, Denmark and Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) September 14, 2006 -- On September 14th, 2006, Bendt Bendtsen, Danish Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Economic and Business Affairs planted a cedar tree at Sonion’s raising of the roof-tree ceremony during his official visit to Vietnam.

Mr. Bendtsen visited Sonion’s building site along with other Danish facilities in Vietnam during his official tour with the Confederation of Danish Industries and the Danish Chamber of Commerce the Trade Council of Denmark. His tour was targeted to Danish suppliers of energy efficiency equipment and technology, technological solutions within building materials & construction, and the maritime industry who are considering trade in Vietnam.

Sonion, world pioneer and leader in miniature acoustical components is building a state-of-the-art, 11,000 square meter production and clean room facility outside of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The facility is on schedule to be completed by the fourth quarter 2006.

‘The Ho Chi Minh City plant is key to the company’s global strategy as it supports continual double digit growth for Sonion through innovative and cost efficient solutions,’ said Sonion Vietnam General Manager Tjerk Veenstra.

The facility in Ho Chi Minh City is one of the many initiatives Sonion has undertaken to position the company for capturing a larger segment of the hearing instruments and mobile phone components market. The company also plans to expand alliances with local suppliers and to launch leading edge products for its customers.

The Ho Chi Minh City facility is designed to produce Sonion’s transducers for hearing instruments, professional audio and mobile terminals, including silicon microphones based on MEMS technology, for export to the rest of Asia, North America and Europe.

With the new factory, Sonion strengthens the supply and logistic channel to its customers, provides needed manufacturing capacity and spreads production exposure over three global facilities – Poland, China and soon to be Vietnam.

‘We chose Vietnam primarily because it is an excellent, emerging country for production. It has a large population of young, energetic and highly literate persons. Vietnam is also close to our China facilities and the majority of our customers,’ said Executive Vice President, Jørn Bjerregaard-Nielsen.

‘From a purely strategic business perspective, these new facilities will support our determined goals for the future and Sonion’s ambition to grow even stronger,’ he said.
