A Refreshing Approach to Students From Citrus

Citrus Telecommunications Launches Citrus Squeeze - Student friendly broadband and the word’s first converged Voice Over Internet telephone service with chance to win tuition fees

Bournemouth, Dorset (PRWEB) October 5, 2006 -- Citrus Telecommunications is offering the opportunity for all students registering their interest in its Citrus Squeeze package to win their tuition fees for that term*.

Because we are an established telecoms network operator with our own infrastructure we can offer immense savings compared with BT. CitrusCall is even on average 20% less costly than Skype.
Launching two new services designed specifically for students, Citrus Squeeze introduces CitrusCall - the world’s first converged internet-based telephone service which is completely free to sign up to and can be used for making on-net calls free - just in time for the students’ return to University this week.

Launching on November 6th, CitrusBroadband brings a brand new, flexible, pay month-by-month 8Mb broadband service to students, with four options starting from as little as £14.99 per month.

While broadband and internet telephone services are far from new, what is new about CitrusCall and CitrusBroadband is that they offer an unprecedented amount of flexibility and a whole lot of freedom.

Matt Langley, MD at Citrus, explains: “Everyone knows that students can move around a lot and they just don’t want to be tied into lengthy internet contracts, which can be difficult to get out of. Instead of offering ‘free’ internet packages (which aren’t actually free if you look at how they are structured), we are offering freedom – freedom to pay month-by-month instead of tie-ins to long term contracts and all the hassle when you move digs, freedom from tie-ins to other services, which are often bundled with broadband and the freedom from restrictions on downloads too.”

In addition to this, calls between CitrusCall users are genuinely free. Matt Langley continues: “More and more people are turning to voice-over-internet telephone calls because, the actual calls are either free, or a fraction of the cost of calls on traditional telephone services.

“Because we are an established telecoms network operator with our own infrastructure we can offer immense savings compared with BT. CitrusCall is even on average 20% less costly than Skype.”

It is great for students as well as parents because they can keep in touch completely free of charge using just their computer and inexpensive headphones and microphone plugged into the USB port.

But one feature of CitrusCall gives even greater freedom and it’s a world first, bringing convergence of normal phones with internet telephony.

A user can register a normal telephone to a CitrusCall account and make free internet calls to other CitrusCall users without being tied to using a PC and headphones. There’s no need even to have a PC switched on, or to have access to the internet from the telephone you are using.

Matt Langley points out, “CitrusCall is the most advanced internet telephone service, yet it’s easier to sign up to and use than any other service. There isn’t any software to download, and we’ve eliminated anything complicated giving users an intuitive, simple service that’s easy to use.”

Students registering for CitrusCall will be automatically entered into a draw to win their tuition fees for that term at the end of each term. And that’s not just a launch gimmick, that’s every term from here on in. Citrus – how refreshing.
