ViaSat Wins Award from Entel Chile to Supply VSAT DVB-S2 Broadband Network for Business and Government Services

DULUTH, Ga. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) February 22, 2007 -- ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ:VSAT) will supply its LinkStar® DVB-S2 satellite networking system to enable Entel Chile to expand its communication services for education, business, and government in Chile. The contract includes installation and integration of a satellite network hub with LinkStarS2 terminals in Santiago de Chile. Deliveries of the hub and first shipment of close to 400 broadband VSAT terminals are scheduled for this month, with commissioning of the network planned for March.

A company such as Entel Chile is a great new partner for us, and we'll be working hard to ensure their success in this and other important projects for Chile
Our LinkStar system provides a unique VSAT network to Entel Chile because it responds to a full range of strictly defined IP applications very efficiently, said Robert Feierbach, managing director Latin America and EMEA. We are delighted that Entel Chile has chosen ViaSat as the winner of this important formal tender.

A company such as Entel Chile is a great new partner for us, and well be working hard to ensure their success in this and other important projects for Chile, said Hugo Frega, ViaSat regional director for Latin America.

With more than 140 hubs and 85,000 terminals installed worldwide, the LinkStar VSAT system supports quick-turnaround retail transactions, such as point-of-sale and lottery networks, as well as broadband multimedia applications, such as Internet access, law enforcement applications, enterprise networking, and distance learning. Operators get better service and more efficient use of satellite transponders from dynamic bandwidth allocation, which increases or decreases data rates on-the-fly, and the latest in DVB-S2 technology. Service providers can also access dedicated network management tools and hub resources from a shared hub though the Virtual Network Operator (VNO) functions of the system.
