Women’s Automotive Association International to Support Lyn St. James Foundation with Scholarship

(PRWEB) June 23, 2006 -- Join us in celebrating the women of motor sports at the "Women in the Winner Circle" luncheon in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 3rd, 2006 to award the WAAI "Women in Motor Sports" scholarship to the Lyn St. James Foundation, www.lynstjames.com . Ford COO and NASCAR fan Anne Stevens will be the main speaker. Danica Patrick, Deborah Renshaw and Erin Crocker are all graduates of the Lyn St. James driver development program. Female drivers from several racing series will be represented along with top automotive industry and motor sports executives.

The Lyn St. James Driver Development Program
Established in 1994 Program, is the most comprehensive educational and training program of its kind. The four-day training courses include instruction in vehicle dynamics, on-track driving at Indianapolis Raceway Park and Whiteland Raceway, instruction and debriefings by mechanics, mental and physical preparation, testing and training provided by Human Performance International, public speaking and media training, seminars on the business of racing, and presentations by leaders in various areas of motor sports.

The Lyn St. James Foundation remains dedicated to continuing to train, advocate, and educate for diversity in racing until "opportunity" and "diversity" are no longer concerns -- they're just taken for granted.

"Deborah Renshaw helped pave the track for many young up and coming female race car drivers in side by side racing series, (ARCA, Craftsman Truck Series, Busch Gran National), which continues to be dominated by male drivers. " Devere continues, "While NASCAR as made some progress with thier driver diversity program, NASCAR still remains the most difficult racing series for female drivers to reach the top. The Women's Automotive Association supports female race car drivers and encourages corporate America to embrace these young female drivers with substantial sponsorship investment to provide these talented drivers the opportunity to race with top flight team owners and equipment. Providing equal opportunities for female drivers to get into the 'winners circle' at NASCAR events and other top racing series is a passionate issue for myself personally and many in our membership."
