Fitzsu Auctions Designer Toy Cars to Benefit International Children’s Charity

Modern Design Store, Fitzsu Society Hosts Cocktail Reception, Silent Auction and Weekend Exhibition for Los Angeles’ Elite

Los Angeles, Calif. (PRWEB) October 3, 2006 -- Putting a creative new spin on the average car show, Fitzsu Society (www.fitzsu.com), in association with Playsam (www.playsam.com), will host the 1st ever Fitzsu Society Grand Prix, a design exhibition and silent auction to benefit the World Childhood Foundation (www.childhood.org). Fitzsu Society with debut one-of-a-kind toy cars customized by some of the biggest names in architecture, illustration, jewelry and product design. The event will take place at Fitzsu Melrose, 7970 Melrose Ave in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 19 at 7:00 pm. The evening’s festivities will include a hors d'oeuvre and cocktail reception for the silent auction attendees. The exhibit will be open to the public on Friday, October 20 and throughout the weekend during regular business hours.

Attendees can view and place bids to purchase the never seen before toys from talented designers such as: Alfredo Häberli, Ben Grider, Björn Dahlström, Cory Grosser, Dalek, David Hundley, David Levinthal, Eva Eisler, Jangir Maddadi, James Irvine, Jonas Lindström, Karim Rashid, Khodi Feiz, Konstantin Grcic, Mark Mothersbaugh, Michael Graves, Mikaela Dörfel, Nader Tehrani, Ole Jensen, Peter Raacke, Reza Feiz, Richard Coleman, Richard Holbrook, Richard Meier, Sami Hayek, Scott Henderson, Sebastian Knorr, Syd Mead, Tamineh Javanbakht, Tarina Tarantino, Tim Biskup, TOUMA, Viktor Shreckengost, and Yves Behar.

"The decision to partner with Playsam was an obvious choice. Ulf Hanses’ construction of the Streamliner Classic Car epitomizes something great in design capable of inspiring other designers to create," said Su Sazama, co-owner of Fitzsu Society. “The event is being held in October because it is the beginning of the holiday season and a perfect time to expose shoppers to exceptional design as well as one-of-a-kind gifts. As an added incentive, all of the net proceeds will be donated for the benefit of an international children’s charity, the World Childhood Foundation."

The net proceeds raised from the silent auction combined with the online sales through eBay’s Giving Works portal (www.ebay.com/givingworks) from the designer toys will benefit of the World Childhood Foundation, an international organization whose mission it is to defend the rights of every child and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited children at risk all over the world.    

“Our mission at Fitzsu is to expose people to functional design by hosting events that are out of the ordinary and meant to inspire creativity,” said Fitz, co-owner of Fitzsu Society, Los Angeles. “We developed this event that involves cars, because they capture the essence of the Angeleno culture. We are using toys as the means of expression because they are pure and meant to be played by both children and adults alike.”
