Revealing Gift Calendar Exposes Trailblazer Greg Oden, Coach Jerry Glanville, Singer Storm Large, Mayor Tom Potter and Other Icons

Just in time for the holiday gift giving season, 'The 2008 Portland Icons: Predictably Unpredictable' calendar raises smiles and funds for arts and music education. City leaders and national icons strike some unexpected poses to 'reveal' their support for arts education.

Portland, OR (PRWEB) November 1, 2007 -- Artful Education announces the arrival of a colorful new calendar just in time for the holiday gift giving season. Noted photographer Charles Waugh captured some prominent citizens in some very unexpected poses. Ninety-five percent of all proceeds from The 2008 Portland Icons: Predictably Unpredictable calendar will benefit arts and music education for children.

The Mayors
The Mayors

This calendar is as wild, weird and wonderful as the city of Portland. It also provides a fun way for people to support arts and music education in our public schools.
The inspiration for the gift calendar came from Bud Clark's famous 1978 Expose Yourself to Art™ photo in which Portland's former mayor flashed Normal J. Taylor's "Naked Woman" statue. The original poster is available at www.errolgraphics.com. This time around, Clark and current Mayor Tom Potter are caught exposing themselves to the amusement of another former Portland Mayor, Vera Katz.

Other fun photos include a legendary football coach playing with toy cars, an NBA star finger painting and the police chief caught with her hands in the doughnut jar. According to Artful Education founder Lyndsay Levy, "This calendar is as wild, weird and wonderful as the city of Portland. It also provides a fun way for people to support arts and music education in our public schools."

The 2008 Portland Icons: Predictably Unpredictable calendar features:

  • Greg Oden, Portland Trailblazer
  • Portland Mayor Tom Potter and former Mayors Vera Katz and Bud Clark
  • The Portland City Council: Sam Adams, Randy Leonard, Dan Saltzman and Erik Sten
  • Multnomah County Commissioners: Jeff Cogen, Lisa Naito, Lonnie Roberts, Maria Rojo de Steffey and Ted Wheeler (Chairman)
  • Jerry Glanville, legendary football coach
  • Storm Large, singer and entertainer
