As with all fillers, Dr. Pilest reiterated how correct placement is crucial. Injected too superficially and patients will see the filler product. Dr. Pilest has nearly 3 decades of experience as a dermatologist and is recognized as a master level injectionist. During the session, he discussed a number of "off label" uses for Juvederm. Off label simply means that those particular uses were not part of the FDA submission. For example, Botox was originally approved for strabismus, an eye condition. One of the biggest uses for Botox for years has been for frown lines - that was "off label" for a long time but still perfectly within acceptable use.
Juvederm's primary indication is for nasolabial folds, and although this is a major use, Juvederm has achieved astounding popularity for lip augmentation, lip corner buttressing, chin augmentation, shallow scar correction and simple augmentation to strengthen the profile of a weak chin.
