With more than 65,000 visits per month, Makeup and Beauty Blog has grown more than 500 percent since September. This month only, the first three advertisers to purchase a minimum 100,000 impression skyscraper ad will receive a free upgrade above the fold on every single page within the site, and ads will remain above the fold for the life of the advertiser's campaign.
I appreciate everything Google does

(PRWEB) April 1, 2008 -- Editor Karen Monterichard of Makeup and Beauty Blog believes her blog presents companies in the beauty industry with a golden opportunity. With more than 65,000 visits per month and a female readership (99 percent are women), the site has grown more than 500 percent since September. Contrast that with declining rates of readership among print publications overall. In its first year online, Makeup and Beauty Blog blossomed into one of the hottest beauty blogs in America.

This month only, the first three advertisers to purchase a minimum 100,000 impression skyscraper ad (cost: $600) on Makeup and Beauty Blog will receive a free upgrade above the fold on every single page within the site, and ads will remain above the fold for the life of the advertiser's campaign.

The blog has outgrown Adsense, Google's immensely popular contextual advertising program. "I appreciate everything Google does," said Monterichard, "but I've seen ads on the site for pink compost toilets and hair plugs for men. Not even Google's perfect. No offense, guys, but I review products by Chanel, MAC Cosmetics, Lancome and Shu Uemura, and those are the kinds of ads my girls want to see."

In a March reader survey, 90 percent of respondents claimed to have been influenced to make a purchase based upon a review on the blog. Monterichard doesn't think any of those women were buying toilets.

"It's funny sometimes, the kinds of ads Google thinks are appropriate," said Monterichard.

What sets Makeup and Beauty Blog apart from the competition?

The blog delivers well-written, in-depth reviews held to the same rigorous editorial standards to which a major print publication would adhere.

Monterichard credits her readers for appreciating her quirky sense of humor. "My readers know I'm only human," she said, "and I have brain farts like anyone else. They seem to accept that about me. It harkens back to the personal connection I share with readers that bigger sites and magazines can't easily achieve."

Not having all of the fixed costs and overhead that print publications have means that a beauty blog like Makeup and Beauty Blog can do more with less. "The technology is amazing," said Monterichard. "I can interview Paris Hilton and publish the article within minutes from a laptop connected to my mobile phone in the parking lot. A magazine with hundreds of employees can't always respond like that."
