A Rabbi, a Priest and a New Thought Minister to Lead Interfaith Peace Service During Global Observance 9/11-21 Honoring Gandhi's Legacy, UN Call for Ceasefire

The Ecumenical Candlelight Peace Service Sept. 15 in Fort Lauderdale is part of Eleven Days of Global Unity, Forgiveness and Nonviolence sponsored by the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence and the Association for Global New Thought, among others.

(PRWEB) September 2, 2006 -- Clergy from three faiths will participate in a special Ecumenical Candlelight Peace Service at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at Religious Science Ft. Lauderdale, 1550 NE 26th Street, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33305.

Organized by the Rev. Ernest Chu, assistant pastor of the Fort Lauderdale center, the service will be presented in observance of Eleven Days of Global Unity, Forgiveness, and Nonviolence.

Eleven Days begins on the Centenary of Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha Movement on Sept. 11 and concludes with the United Nations International Day of Peace and Call for a Global Ceasefire on Sept. 21. The observance is jointly sponsored by the M. K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence; the Association for Global New Thought Pathways to Peace; We the Peoples Initiative/We The World; and the Mahatma Gandhi Foundation in Mumbai, India. Clergy participating in the Fort Lauderdale service will include Rabbi Loring Frank of the All Peoples Synagogue in Miami; Father Bill Houran, Chaplain Emeritius of Holy Cross Hospital in Ft.Lauderdale; the Rev. Manohara Ferretti, an interfaith minister and director of Mind Body and Medicine at Holy Cross Hospital; and Rev. Chu.

A celebration following the service will benefit Kids in Distress, an agency that serves children and families in South Florida. All are welcome to attend the celebration as well as the peace service. Both are free and open to the public, but RSVPs are requested for the celebration, scheduled at the church in honor of the 60th birthday of Rev. Chu, who also is founder of The Soul Currency Institute Foundation and author of the forthcoming book, "Soul Currency: The Secret of Being Well Paid for Doing What Really Fulfills You."
