Brea, CA (PRWEB) May 9, 2008 -- Peternity.com, a place that helps people to honor the memories and lives of their pets, features the abstract "Tribute Series" paintings by artist Denice Lewis for customers who wish to commission the artist for custom art as a pet memorial of their beloved pets. Lewis' tribute paintings not only help people through the healing process after their pet passed on but also can be enjoyed for many years and generations to come.

Although there are other artists who claim to do pet art with cremains, Lewis was one of the first. A former super model, her work is abstract art defined as art that picks up where religious art left off -- rendering the same feelings refined to the essence of form and colors. Just a smidge of the cremains of a loved one that has passed on are painted into an abstract expression of their life. Her paintings serve as a memorial to celebrate departed loved ones, whether a friend, family member or the family pet.

Lewis' fine art tribute portraits are available through Peternity.com. Families simply send a photograph of their beloved pet, share some ashes from the cremains and talk with Lewis so that she can pick up a sense of the pet that has passed on.

Lewis recently did a painting to celebrate a friend's mother's life. At her friend's suggestion, Lewis also included the cremains of the family's beloved pet dog, a Keeshond named Bogart, after removing a pinch of ashes from his pet urn which they had kept since his passing.

According to the patron, "I love the piece that Denice did for me. It is actually going to be family memorial, and will also hold the ashes of other family members and pets once they move on. It gives me much joy to view the painting, and it feels more spiritual than visiting a cemetery."

The artist's brush strokes are magnificent manifestations of her internal spirit and the powerful emotions that are conveyed to the viewer are often primal and intense. Her artistic forays into color, texture and light lead viewers on a path to inner joy, beauty and bliss with loving memories of loved ones.

The artist began paint in this special way after a trip back in 1986 to Bali, Indonesia, which she says is probably one of the most spiritual places that she has ever been. Lewis was particularly moved by the fact that in Bali, a funeral is where friends, family and even strangers celebrate the life of the deceased with a marvelous festive send off. They have a tremendous respect for Spirit. This ceremony resonated with my spirit, and fast forwarding to the present, serves as the blessing for my "Tribute" series of paintings that serve as a lasting memorial," said Lewis

A cat and dog lover herself, Lewis' own pet cats, Cecil and Monkey, and her puppy teacup chihuahua named Shakespeare often watch as she paints pet tribute art pieces that prove to be a healing experience for the family and survivors of other pet owners.

One magazine article says it all, "Look once, and you'll miss it. Look twice, and it's just another painting. But if you hold your gaze, you'll discover something else entirely. This is more than just acrylic colors...this is a celebration of a life well lived."

Peternity.com also offers grieving support via website links to pet loss information and pet loss counseling websites to help people say goodbye to their beloved pets. This is particularly helpful for parents assisting children with the loss of a pet. Peternity.com guests can create virtual pet memorials to share with family and friends, including a written tribute and photographs that honor their pet's memory in the pet memorials section of the website.

Peternity products are shipped via UPS, USPS, DHL and FedEx, depending on the artist creating your product. Turnaround time is 2-3 weeks for personalized, engraved and embroidered items, while all other items should be received in 1-2 weeks.

The Peternity.com shopping cart is set up to ship to the continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii and Canada.
