Capella realizes the critical role project managers play in today's corporate environment
"Capella realizes the critical role project managers play in today's corporate environment," said Kurt Linberg, dean of Capella's School of Business and Technology. "We are pleased to be able to contribute to advancing the project management discipline by awarding the scholarships to these dedicated individuals."

Capella's project management specializations provide a strong foundation in project management that may be applied to a wide variety of industries, including business, information technology, insurance, financial services, engineering, and health care. Capella's scholar/practitioner faculty engage project management students in real-world projects and research, and work to ensure that curriculum are aligned with leading project management industry associations like the Project Management Institute (PMI). Capella's project management curriculum is designed around A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), an internationally recognized standard. Capella also offers one of the few PhD-level programs in project management; only 12 exist worldwide, according to PMI.

Capella selected the scholarship recipients based on several criteria, including a description of why they are pursuing advanced education in project management and how will it help them achieve their goals, professional successes and obstacles overcome, and past professional or educational experience in project management.

The $10,000 awards will be evenly distributed over eight quarters, beginning with the winter quarter of 2008.

Capella offers online degree programs for both technical-track and business-track project management professionals. Technical-track programs include a BS in Information Technology with a specialization in Project Management, an MS in Information Technology with a specialization in Project Management and Leadership, and a PhD in Information Technology with a specialization in Project Management. Business-track programs include a BS in Business with a specialization in Project Management, an MBA with a specialization in Project Management, and a PhD in Organization and Management with a specialization in Project Management.
