ON Networks Takes Viewers to Charm School via New Internet TV Show Proper
Ollie
AUSTIN, Texas (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) September 11, 2007 --
In our harried, time-crunched world, good manners and proper etiquette
are often difficult to acquire or maintain. Indeed, social grace is
usually the first thing out the window when the pressure’s
on and/or the uninitiated roam free. With this in mind, Internet
TV show Proper Ollie (www.properollie.tv)
makes its virtual debut via ON
Networks. The new program celebrates and encourages all that good
breeding, class and “Miss Manners”
hold dear, including: tipping appropriately, holding doors open and
composing the perfect “thank you”
note.
Proper Ollie is hosted by Oliver Mims, a pompous and witty master
of manners who hails from England and can do more with a smug look and a
raised eyebrow than the entire Emily Post library. Throughout each
episode, Lancaster crosses the “fourth wall”
to directly address viewers and offer much-needed pointers on
all-things-refined. His manner is authoritative without being preachy,
in a 007 “shaken, not stirred”
kind of way.
“If you've ever been at a loss as to how to
set your place at the table, how to behave when traveling abroad or what
gift to bring to a Bar Mitzvah, then this is the show for you,”
says producer D.S. Moss. “Proper Ollie
conveys valuable information that will give viewers confidence in social
situations. The show does so in a manner that is clear, concise,
engaging and visually stimulating.”
The show’s pilot episode addresses cell phone
etiquette, which Oliver suggests Americans are sorely in need of.
Cautioning that “mobiles have caused people
to lose all sense of courtesy,” he
demonstrates why viewers should not use their cell phones behind the
wheel, in others’ company or while in public.
He also highlights cell phone dependency and discourages viewers from
overdoing it with wireless accessories.
Future episodes will highlight etiquette surrounding golf, driving,
travel and the holidays before turning to the humorous, with episodes on
crawfish boil protocol and NASCAR do’s and don’ts.
