Crookedest Street and Hills Advanced Tour

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) April 22, 2008 - San Francisco Segway Tours has added a new "Crookedest Street and Hills Advanced Tour" for its guests. Eco-friendly and fun guided Segway sightseeing adventures for ages 12 and up. The San Francisco Electric Tour Company takes global warming as seriously as it takes fun. It's providing Bay Area visitors with an eco-friendly touring experience that's more advanced - and more exciting - than ever.

"We're kicking everything up a notch," says San Francisco Electric Tour Company founder Brian Huber. "Some who've taken the tours in the past have wanted a more physically demanding experience, and now we offer it. The tour covers new territory and our equipment is an earth-conscious alternative to polluting tour buses."

The Advanced Rider Segway Tour answers riders' most frequently asked question: "Can we ride down the crookedest street?" Huber has wanted to take riders down San Francisco's famous Lombard Street since he started the Segway tours in 2004. Segway's latest PT i2 model, with LeanSteer™ technology for improved maneuverability, has made that dream a reality.

The Advanced Rider Segway Tour is designed for people who've ridden a Segway before and have no mobility problems. It's more strenuous than the San Francisco Electric Tour Company's other Segway tours and covers more challenging terrain and landscapes, including Aquatic Park, the slopes of Russian Hill, Lombard Street, Telegraph Hill, North Beach ("Little Italy"), Pier 39, and the historic Fisherman's Wharf. Spectacular views of San Francisco Bay characterize the tour. Many of the spots are generally not accessible by tour vehicles.

"There is more riding, bigger hills, and a little less historical narration," Huber explains. "This tour is designed for people who value challenge and adventure as much as the sightseeing. It's the best of all possible routes!"

Nevertheless, refresher training is offered before the tour to ensure that riders haven't forgotten what they learned on previous Segway rides.

Segways are zero-emissions vehicles that operate on electricity, so they're easy on the environment as well as the wallet. The Segway PT i2 can travel as far as 24 miles on a single battery charge, making it an ideal replacement for mid-distance sightseeing tours. The Segway intuitively moves where the rider's body tells it to go. For safety as well as comfort, every Segway is equipped with handlebar bags, comfort mats, Motorola radios, LED headlights, and helmet-mounted red flasher lights for night tours.

Segway, the electric transport mechanism that is guided by the rider's natural motions for forward and backward maneuvering, was first introduced in 2003. It easily navigates most areas, including paved surfaces, dirt roads, grass, and those famous San Francisco hills.

Advanced Tours depart daily April through October: 10:30 am and 2:00 pm. November - March: 3:00 pm departure daily. Fee is $75 per person or save $5.00 if you book online. Tours depart from the rear parking lot at 757 Beach Street near the corner of Hyde Street. Located across Beach Street from the Hyde Street Cable Car turn around in Fisherman's Wharf. Reservations are required. To request tours, please call 415-474-3130.
