Takumi -- Japanese Selvage Denim and Luxury Shirts

The Takumi Spring/Summer '08 collection consists of Japanese artisan selvage denim and luxury shirts offering men contemporary style with vintage sophistication.

Los Angeles, Calf. (PRWEB) June 25, 2007 -- Takumi, the hand-crafted Japanese collection, is introducing a variety of extraordinary Japanese textures and weaves, focusing on contemporary style with vintage sophistication for spring/summer '08.

The recently launched collection nearly doubles its style and fabrication offerings after only their first season. The handcrafted collection is best known for its great attention to detail, fusing Japanese textile tradition with European custom-tailoring and the simple beauty of vintage American denim.

"Summer is a time to be more playful and have fun and relax. The spring/summer '08 collection projects this attitude," says founder and designer Luis Pedroza.

Takumi luxury shirts combine modern looks with a bespoke attention to detail, featuring hand rolled canvas collars, contrasting fabric on cuffs, gussets on side seams and extra thick shell buttons. New for the spring/summer '08, Takumi is expanding to include modern translations of vintage inspired prints with unexpected pops of color. Takumi will also introduce linen luxury shirts; exuding effortlessly chic appeal. Takumi luxury shirts retail for $189-198.

As for its Japanese denim, Takumi will continue to offer artisan selvedge denim woven on an antique shuttle loom and is now incorporating Washi denim, made from cotton and traditional Japanese paper; adding a slight, beautiful sheen to the selvage denim. This unique fabrication helps the jeans breath and stays fresh during warmer weather. Takumi will also offer non-selvage denim made from Zimbabwe cotton, which will be available in raw or distressed washes. Takumi denim retails for $220-448 and is being sold in premium denim boutiques like Blue in Green, American Rag World Denim Bar and Fred Segal.

Whether office bound or destined for a night on the town, Takumi embodies a simple sophistication that is constantly classic and effortlessly chic.

About Takumi: Launched in fall '07, Takumi melds contemporary style with vintage sophistication. Founder and designer Luis Pedroza left his native Southern California roots and spent the last decade living and working throughout Asia and Europe. His passion for the Japanese textile tradition combined with his experience abroad helped to inspire this refined urban collection.
