MySpace is committed to working with developers around the world to help build a more dynamic user experience

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 14, 2008 -- Shopit, the leader of a new revolution in ecommerce, social commerce, today announced that it will launch the Shopit Store App on MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/shopitstore), the world's most popular social network. There are no listing, hosting, or transaction fees with the Shopit Store App. The App enables users to buy and sell right from their MySpace page. The Shopit Store App brings MySpace users the ability to buy and sell right from within their profile page. The application connects users and finds other people with similar interests in items that users are selling and/or interested in buying. The Shopit Store App enables supply and price comparisons by connecting users with other people in a specific local area. Users can quickly add products and services as well as checkout and transact in multiple currencies via PayPal directly from the app. There are no listing, hosting or transaction fees and it's completely free to users.

Shopit enables users to conduct commerce right from their MySpace profile and can be found in the "Shopping" and "Jobs, Business, Money," apps directory on MySpace. The application can be added to a MySpace page by going to http://www.myspace.com/shopitstore.

MySpace first introduced their Developer Platform site on February 5, 2008 beginning a one-month application development period allowing companies including Shopit, time to build and test their applications in a secure environment before going live to the MySpace community.

On March 13, 2008, MySpace launched the public beta of the Application Gallery (http://apps.myspace.com), enabling broader testing of approved applications by allowing public installation. MySpace members can now discover and add new applications from a variety of categories, including the Shopit Store App, to both their home and profile pages.

"Bringing the Shopit Store App to MySpace users will provide a tremendous opportunity for web sellers and buyers to leverage their MySpace network of influence, while at the same time, harnessing the trade potential of millions of users accessed by Shopit's community agnostic platform," said Matt Hill, CEO, Shopit. "Shopit's free commerce engine, often coined 'Me-Commerce,' brings buyers and sellers together across multiple social networking communities, and is the fastest growing of its kind on the web. Our goal is to continue to develop the most advanced networking tools to enable ecommerce in social settings, utilizing our commerce intelligence system that matches users' goods and services for sale with millions of potential buyers, based on interests shared in our network."

As with all MySpace Developer Platform applications, the Shopit Store App will be able to safely access publically available profile information including a user's friend list, interests, photos & albums, video, as well as status & mood. The Shopit Store App will have real estate in five places within MySpace including:

  • A MySpace application profile (users can "friend" the apps)
  • Access to embed applications on the user homepage (inward facing--for you to see)
  • Access to embed applications on profiles (outward facing widget--for friends to see)
  • An application gallery listing
  • A canvas page

"MySpace is committed to working with developers around the world to help build a more dynamic user experience," said Kyle Brinkman, vice president and general manager, MySpace Developer Platform. "We're thrilled by all of the exciting and innovative applications being built on the platform that enable our members to take control of their online presence in new and exciting ways."
