Fathers Day Tradition Continues in Steamboat Springs with Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup

Steamboat Springs Father's Day tradition continues with more than 400 Mustang owners from Rocky Mountain Mustang clubs convening in Steamboat for activities, including a timed event on Friday and a "Show and Shine" on Lincoln Avenue on Saturday.

Steamboat Springs, CO (PRWEB) April 29, 2007 -- Steamboat Springs Father's Day tradition continues with more than 400 Mustang owners from Rocky Mountain Mustang clubs convening in Steamboat Springs June 14 - 17, 2007. This free event is a car lover's dream and includes a Show n Shine on Steamboat's downtown main street and timed events.

This is one of the Chamber's signature events. Everyone looks forward to coming up, and we look forward to having them
ResortQuest Steamboat Springs Vacation Rentals additionally ensures an affordable Fathers Day weekend in Steamboat Springs with the "I Love Steamboat" package. Guests booking a two or more night stay will receive a Steamboat chamber gift certificate at check-in, plus discounts on Steamboat lodging. The "I Love Steamboat" Chamber Gift Certificates can be redeemed at all Chamber member businesses. Instead of giving a gift certificate to be used at a specific store, guests can decide whether they want to use the gift certificate for a massage, gondola tickets, Yampa river tubing, rodeo tickets, out to dinner or in any number of adventurous ways. It's their choice!

The Roundup kicks off with the Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup Scenic Mountain Tour on Thursday June 14th. This is a challenging, but leisurely 65-mile tour (approximately one and a half hours) of the beautiful countryside surrounding Steamboat Springs.

On Friday, June 15th an autocross for 200 drivers will be held at Steamboat Springs Tennis Meadows parking lot. There will be two sessions of the autocross (morning and afternoon). Each driver will complete three (3) runs. Autocross trophies will be awarded on Saturday at the Show n' Shine. Spectators are welcome and admission is free.

The highlight of this Rocky Mountain Mustang Roundup is the free Show n' Shine Car Show on Saturday, June 16th. Over 450 Ford Mustangs are lined up and down Lincoln Avenue for display. Stroll down Steamboat's main street to see Mustangs from model years 1964 through today, and a few other special display cars. The diversity in the cars is one of the most popular elements of the Mustang Roundup because spectators can compare models from the 1960s with the newer models. Even if you're a non car buff, it's easy to get sucked in!

During the show, 50 judges rate the cars in 41 classes, including cleanliness, craftsmanship and quality. The judges also look at each car's exterior, interior, engine, wheels, tires and overall appearance.

James Mckenzie Mckenzie, one of the Mustang owners visiting Steamboat Springs for the Mustang Roundup in 2006 said the Show n Shine crowds were bustling, and he was happy to talk to folks about his car.

"Steamboat Springs is one of my favorite places. Everyone has been very nice; they all come and talk to me. The people in this town seem to enjoy having (the Mustang Roundup) here," he said.

Jody Anagnos, the Steamboat Chamber Special Events Director agreed.

"People love to walk down Lincoln Avenue when it's closed. People bring their dogs and mingle and check out the cars. It's so fun," she said.

"This is one of the Chamber's signature events. Everyone looks forward to coming up, and we look forward to having them," said Anagnos.

In Steamboat, ResortQuest luxury vacation rentals are accompanied with premier guest services including Steamboat's only on-call, door-to-door shuttle service, 24-hour front desk service, daily housekeeping and Wine and Cheese Welcome receptions.
