Introducing "The Delivery Man," a Novel by Joe McGinniss Jr.

A story about the MySpace generation set in Las Vegas.

(Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) January 15, 2008 -- Joe McGinniss Jr.'s debut The Delivery Man (Black Cat, a paperback original imprint of Grove/Atlantic; $14; ISBN: 978-0-8021-7042-2; January 15, 2008), a chilling, fast-paced, and razor-sharp rendering of the MySpace generation, takes the reader inside the surreal excess of Las Vegas.

The Delivery Man
The Delivery Man
he novel has already captured the attention of Hollywood, with film rights sold to Whitsitt Hill Entertainment's Ryan Howe and Thom Mount, producer of such modern classics as The Deer Hunter, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, and Cruel Intentions.
In 'The Delivery Man,', ultra-sophisticated kids grow up fast and burn out early. It is a powerful love story about two friends, now in their mid-twenties, groping toward adulthood and making all the wrong choices. Chase thought he had escaped Las Vegas, finding meaningful work and true love in New York City, but when he returns home he finds himself sucked into the amoral excess Vegas offers. When his childhood friend, Michele, a beautiful Salvadoran immigrant with whom he shares a tragic past, draws him into the lucrative but dangerous world of a teenage call-girl service, the two soon face the violence and emptiness at the heart of the city and their generation.

At once stark and electrically atmospheric, horrifying and hopeful, 'The Delivery Man' is a scathing indictment of a society whose young people exhibit an unnerving sense of entitlement to wealth and attention. In an age of instant everything by way of Myspace, text messaging and Craigslist, gratification, or the means to it, is just a keystroke away.

About Joe McGinniss Jr.:
Joe McGinniss Jr. graduated from Swarthmore College and lives in Washington, DC. The Delivery Man is his first book and rights have thus far been sold in the UK, Spain, Italy and Denmark.
