iStockphoto Invites Voters to Judge 125 Global Entries in “Future Now” Video Contest

iStockphoto is the world’s most-visited stock photo and video site, and sells user-generated stock video clips for as low as $5 per 30-second clip. iStock pioneered the micropayment phenomenon in this industry, enabling buyers to license images for as little as a dollar.
The amazing quality and effort put into many of the video entries, and the innovative ways people integrated the clips and stills we asked them to use makes this a contest worth watching

Calgary, AB (PRWEB) May 3, 2007 -— iStockphoto®, the world’s most visited stock photo and video site, announced that voting is now open for Future Now!,” the first iStockvideo contest. The contest, which began in February and closed on April 30, garnered 125 entries from countries around the globe, including the U.S., Pakistan, Portugal, Holland, Australia and the UK. Voting for the top 12 videos in both the “Funny” and “Not Funny” categories is now open to the community through May 8 at www.istockphoto.com/futurenowcontest.

Finalists will then be narrowed to second- and first-place winners by a panel of industry judges. The judges are: Alex Lindsay, chief architect at Pixel Corps; Charles Fulton, associate editor of Videomaker Magazine; and Alastair Upham, UK editor of Digital Video Magazine. Final winners will be announced on iStockphoto.com on May 21.

“The amazing quality and effort put into many of the video entries, and the innovative ways people integrated the clips and stills we asked them to use makes this a contest worth watching,” said Bruce Livingstone, CEO of iStockphoto. “With 78 ‘Funny’ entries and 47 that take a more serious look at technology’s effects on our lives, you know there’s got to be something that strikes a chord with almost everyone.”

Contest Information:
Entries had to use a mix of at least one of five free iStockvideo clips and 10 free iStockphoto stills combined with original footage. All free clips and images were donated by iStock members for use in the contest, which is sponsored by Abel CineTech. Two first-place winners will each receive a prize package worth more than $9,000, including a Panasonic AG-HVX200 camera, an 8GB P2 card and an accessory pack including a Kata HDV camcorder case. These first-place winners will also receive one year’s membership to Pixel Corps, a dvGarage Power Pak with $1,100 worth of dvGarage training and software, and dvGarage’s Conduit for Final Cut Pro 5.1.2.

Second-place winners will each receive a $4,000 prize package including Sony’s DSR-PD170 DV cameras and Kata Shell camcorder cases. The top 12 entries in each of the two categories as judged by the community will receive 50 iStockphoto site credits.
